Description:
'My starting point when creating this works revolved around a metaphorical notion of the redundant card-board box, attempting to infuse life in to this inertial material. In a antromorphic sense, it is like if they where looking up from the gutter dreaming of something better - seeing only as far as the glossy promise of high-street inflatable as an aspirational ideal, much in the same way as the young teenage girl might look to her pop idols or any also consumer led model, (hence the Britney Spears references). The actual body of work comprises of discarded cardboard boxes, the unsung heroes of the manufacturer/wholesaler/retailer/consumer food chain. Having collected boxes of different origins, dimensions and styles, they have been disassembled, dissected, remodelled, made airtight, inflated and exhibited as wall hanging sculptural works.'
