Description:
Maddle Farm. It may be problematic to see such apparently simple representations of a landscape. Why should a bend in the road, angle of hedge and ploughed field extending across the horizon have any hold in contemporary vision? It gains attention because the associative romanticism of the rural, or artificial composition of directed gaze is denied by Louise Spence in these directly autonymous works.
